Data science is an emerging field encompassing processes and systems for extracting knowledge and insights from data. With its interdisciplinary approach that combines aspects of statistics, computer science, data mining, applied mathematics, predictive analytics and visualization, data science aims to turn vast amounts of data into actionable evidence.
The Department of Data Science of BDU aims to train students in the rapidly growing field of Data Science, to be vibrant research hub in this area and interact with other disciplines to evaluate, analyse and utilize the vast amounts of scientific, social and financial data streaming in every second. The platform can host both traditional, virtualization-based services and modern micro-service architectures that use Docker containers. In particular, we have developed the concept of analytics-as-a-service, that let our users focus on their data science challenges, rather than on low-level intricacies of distributed data management systems
